Paris Fashion Week '09

I must confess...
I had intended our journey through the wilds of the Japanese Fashion Week to last a bit longer. But for some unknown reason I was unable to obtain the last of the photograph's. Our ride has been a short one but in consolation, I have today for you, a featured Designer at the Paris Fashion Week that took place April the 9th. So sit back, grab something chewy and edible and enjoy the offerings of Cameroonian designer Anggy Haif.

Designer Anggy Haif & models

*~Let it begin!~*

Alright, not bad, not bad.
Defiantly like the patterned dress (see above picture), and the buckle is yummy.
The scarfy necklace thing is pulling it's own well enough.
Even the mask is workin'!
All-in-all: 5 *'s out of 10
Beautiful. What more to say?

*~Next!~*

At first glance I think "Why a hood?"
But after further consideration I find that this
just wouldn't be as interesting without it.
In fact I'd probably like it a whole lot less.
All-in-all: 2 *'s (and a half) out of 10
Mermaid meets tribal Red Riding-hood.

*~Next!~*

5 in 1! I love a challenge...*smile*
Left to Right: Circuit board: 3 (and a half) *'s.
Awkward Butterfly Prom Girl: 2 *'s.
Geek Bride from Hell: 1 *'s.
Bee Flight-Attendant: 3 (and a half) *'s.
Fierce Feather-Duster: 1 (and a half) *'s.
One interesting looking bridal party...

*~Next!~*

Yessss. This is what we're looking for.
Beautiful rich colors and unique textures.
I'd wear this is a heartbeat.
All-in-all: 5 *'s out of 10
Sugar and Spice.

*~Next!~*

Oookaaayyyy.
The man purse. My wit cannot do it justice.
The glasses are pretty freaky too.
Do love the boots, the hat and the orange color palette.
And even though I can't fully see the female model's
attire, it looks captivating enough.
All-in-all: 3 *'s out of 10
An explosion of pattern!

Anggy Haif, my good friends. A very colorful and vibrant collection. It's always nice to see some of that from time to time amid some of the more melancholy collections. Hope you enjoyed! *smile* Later!

Japan Fashion Week '09 Part I

I'm back and ready to show you more from the Designer Fashion world!
And today I have for you the delicious and delirious offerings of The Japan Fashion Week in Tokyo Thursday, March 26, 2009. Let me tell you, those Japanese don't disappoint.

And to start we have the Fall/Winter collection by Japanese designer Minoru Adachi.
Shall we begin? Alrighty. *smile*

*~Let it Begin!~*

Alright, so I can't see the jacket very well and you know how I love jackets...so points are lost.
An emo grunge look for your granny.
The shoes and necklace could be useful in case of Vampires.
And I'm not talkin' the sparkly kind...
All-in-all: 2 *'s out of 10
Granny! Behind you!

*~Next!~*

Um, yeah...
I don't know who their target audience is...
...but I'm pretty sure old secretarial women don't buy designer clothes.
Especially midriff baring ensembles such as these.
Actually really like the color and cut of it though...it has potential.
All-in-all: 3 *'s out of 10
Giving you another reason to return your books...*wink*

*~Next!~*

Ok seriously. The hair is getting old fast.
It's distracting and cheap looking. Blah. It ruins the outfit.
And the make-up's not helping either.
All-in-all: 2 *'s out of 10
Amazing how something this crazy can still be boring.

*~Next!~*

Like I haven't seen any number of women over 60 wear this number...
Tweed: Check.
Coral/Cranberry/Puke hue: Check.
Large necklaces: Check.
Camel licked hair styling: Check.
All-in-all: 2 *'s out of 10
Latest Designer Fashions : Now at your local Senior Citizen Center!

*~Next!~*

A little bit better.
And the hair actually seems to work with this one.
A clean and striking look.
All-in-all: 4 *'s out of 10
A little Grandma can go a long way.

The creations of Minoru Adachi of Japan, ladies and gentlemen. Love it or hate it; props to the designer for executing their vision. However wack it might be. *smile* Later!

Miami Fashion Week '09 Part III

Alrighty, so this is the third and final installment of our run with the Miami Fashion week.
Yes, yes I know. I'll miss it too.
But be of good cheer amigos, because I'm going to show you a variety of styles to finish us out that caught my eye. And I'm not just saying in the good way...

Our featured Designer of the day:

Designer Deanoor Cristian Lay of Spain

*~Let it Begin!~*

Soooo...it's fleshy, I'll give it that.
Daring? Anyone can take a razor to a swimsuit.
Shocking? I've been exposed to more on a hot day at a theme park.
The gold accessories are the only thing keeping me awake.
All-in-all: 2 *'s out of 10
When Freddie attacks...

*~Next!~*

Liking this a bit more, what with the exotic and tribal safari feel.
I'll tell you, the only thing wiggin' me out about the pic is the
lady on the front row.
Yes. That one. o.O
All-in-all: 3 (and a half) *'s out of 10
Can you feeling the love tonight?

And now for a hodge-podge of all the other looks that didn't make into a feature of their own(designers name above the photograph):

Cinthia Avelino of Dominican Republic

Whisk-like shoulder pads: Well there's a thought.
I'll take 'em!
Ok but really, not really getting this one.
Not bad but not too good either.
All-in-all: 3 *'s out of 10
Yeah, I've got nothing.

*~Next!~*

Cinthia Avelino of Dominican Republic

Yes, yes, yes.
I want it, I need it, you bet your bottom I'd wear it.
Of course the Top-hat only for special occasions. *wink*
The shoes are great, the jacket eccentric but fun, and
the metallic deal is working well.
All-in-all: 4 *'s out of 10
Kind'a makes you want to run away with the circus, no?

*~Next!~*

Cinthia Avelino of Dominican Republic

The skirt's cute, the top bland the shoes nice but traditional.
I'm thinking this designer is all about the simple
basic look with one crazy focal point.
And you know how I love me some crazy, but still not too sure about this one...
All-in-all: 3 (and a half) *'s out of 10
I wonder what they'd do to me if I walked down the street like this...

*~Next!~*

Jeronima Palacios from Colombia

In today's news, a model at the Miami Fashion week in Florida
burst suddenly into bright purple flames while prancing about on the runway.
The model seemed to be unaware of the hazard, confusing the audiences
cries of "Stop, drop & roll" as a pun for the dresses attractiveness.
The model is in stable condition and is said to recover soon.
The police suspect foul play.
All-in-all: 2 *'s out of 10
That'd be one heck of a news story. *laughs*

*~Next!~*

Jeronima Palacios from Colombia

The future of neck braces.
Now in fashion colors!
Not getting the whole fan-shovel thing...
...not that I really get the rest of it.
All-in-all: 1 *'s out of 10
It's just weird, ok.

*~Next!~*

Kimya Glasgow

Hmmmm...
Yep! Never seen anything like this before!
All-in-all: 1 *'s out of 10
I don't care if the man is half naked, it boring.
And distasteful. *laughs*

Well then friends, that concludes our review of the Miami Fashion week '09 in Florida.
Like I said, some good, some bad, and some ugly.
All you need for the makin's of a bang up fashion show.
Come back to see more soon! *smile* Later!

Miami Fashion Week '09 Part II

Continued!
I thought I should feature some menswear today (courtesy of Munib Nawaz), something I little more subdued and melancholy.

Then a little bit of crazy female stuff at the end to take us home. *smile* I'm excited already.

Designer Munib Nawaz of Pakistan

*~Let it Begin!~*

Ok so we start out with some promising pieces like this one.
Not a big fan of the Guy-liner (maybe he was just born like that...or maybe it's Maybelline! *gasp*). Hairs nice, postures lovely, and the scarf/tie...meh. Can't tell the length of the coat from this pic but I don' think it would matter much either way.
All-in-all: 5 *'s out of 10
It's well tailored and subtle but not boring.

*~Next!~*

Kind'a feel like this would've done better if not in tux form but to each his own. I'd be lying if I said it wasn't interesting, but it's almost in a distracting way. One thing I do like about it is that I can see the how the designer incorporated his Middle Eastern roots, giving them a spin.
All-in-all: 3 *'s out of 10
Today and tomorrow all wrapped up in a suave black bundle.

*~Next!~*

Ok REALLY liking the lapels here.
Forever this part of the suit has fascinated me, and I always like to see the designers use it as the focal point of the entire piece.
I'm getting a rabbi/matador/gunslinger vibe from this one.
Do I love it? Do I fear it? Is there a difference?
All-in-all: 7 *'s out of 10
The garb of an epic hero...or villain. *wink*

*~Next!~*

Not being Pakistani by birth or creed, I don't quite get the thrill of pride when I see this piece as I'd assume someone for the country actually would. But statements of pride for one's country will always be respected here.
All-in-all: 5 *'s out of 10
Lovely jacket from what I can see, along with a lovely message.

*~Next!~*

Looks like *someone* got a hold of the Beddazzeler. *smile*
I actually quite like this one.
More traditional, more luxurious, more...more.
Very prince of the desert and also very nice.
All-in-all: 5 *'s out of 10
It sparkles. I like when it sparkles.

Interlude...
~*~
OK this next designer Damaris Rubio of the Dominican Republic is apparently either camera shy or just very, very fast. Either way, no picture of him do I have to show you.
Yes. I'm just as disappointed as you are.
But buck up sunshine, I've got a sampling of his work and I have a feeling you're going to like it.
~*~
Recommencing...

"There once was a girl with a tiny little curl, right in the middle of her forehead.
And when she was good she was very, very good. And when she was bad she was horrid."
Kind of '80's prom bomb with some French sizzle tossed it. The color is good but the sheen is just making me cringe.
All-in-all: 3 *'s out of 10
Ooh-la-la!

*~Next~*

This model looks like she's about ready to break it down right here on the runway.
And I'm ready to join in!
The sheer Princess Lea dress looks like it's flows well and the leotard and/or swimsuit is pleasant. The snow queen belt doesn't seem to be hurting any.
I question only the black flower...
All-in-all: 4 *'s out of 10
Ideal wear when challenged to a dance off.

*~Next!~*

Naturally, only mile-high legs could do these pieces justice, and my how they do.
Stunning to say the lest, I like how the proportions are extreme and definite.
Both carry it well but the lady on the left wins my vote.
All-in-all: 6 *'s out of 10
They will trample you...in style.

*~Next!~*

Um...am I the only one who missed the memo on the petticoat sleeve trend?
These women look like very dangerous curtains.
They also look like they are risking massive wedgies all for the sake of fashion.
Another nod to ones country I suppose.
Thumbs up on the shoes and the flower tiaras are forgivable.
All-in-all: 2 *'s out of 10
Ricky Ricardo would be proud.

So I hope you enjoyed today's lesson in "The Do's and Don'ts of Country Pride in the Fashion World".
It's a lesson we all may take to heart.
I wonder what it'd look like if an American designer tried to do the same thing...hmmm...*smile* Later!

Miami Fashion Week '09 Part I

Let's start with the good 'ol U.S of A.
It's only fair my being a citizen and all. So I've chosen the Miami Fashion Week in Florida {March 22, 2009} as my opening act, and the art of Agatha Ruiz De La Prada as my opening number for today (I'll cover the rest of the designers throughout the week).

This particular event showcases some good, bad, and just plain ugly stuff. Yay for variety! Enjoy.

Agatha Ruiz De La Prada herself acknowledging the crowd

*~Let it begin!~*

OK, so not that bad.
Not a big fan of the sunglasses but let's face it, we've all seen preteens sporting worse so I'll let it slide.
The candy apple rain-coat pants are also do-able. A tad hippy (as in anatomy not woodstock), but it adds to the look.
Not liking the hair *at all* but then I'm basically prejudiced to most '80 inspired do's anyways so no surprise here.
The top's a bit Yo Gabba-Gabba but still fashion forward.
The accessories are simple and sweet.
All-in-all: 4 *'s out of 10

*~Next!~*

So I realize this is partly an indulgence piece, and believe that this designer has no inclination of normal people walking around with squashed mini umbrellas on their heads.
So realizing that, and that *this type of fashion* is really just wearable art and *not* meant for actually everyday wear....I'm still going to judge it like every other piece.
All-in-all: 2 *'s out of 10.
Partly because I couldn't see half of it, but mostly because I could.

*~Next!~*

First of all I've got to ask: Who is that poor woman in that grotesque get-up, and what did she do to deserve such humiliation?
We may never get our answer.
So...
All-in-all: 1 *'s out of 10.
Because I could see the human beneath, and her effort deserves recognition.

*~Next!~*

Not missing the subtle hint at sexuality, I deem this piece wack.
Neither should in be worn except as in jest.
If that is was dear Madame Prada's aim, we may all laugh together joyously. Otherwise, I fear for the one who cannot stifle their giggles well enough.
The only thing I could salvage from this is the furry beanie, and even that is stretching it.
All-in-all: 1 *'s out of 10.
Like before, I can still see glimpses of humanity.
Maybe one day she'll come back to us...

*~Next!~*

I mean, why the heck not?
Props to the model; she's really trying to make this work.
Too bad the green mound of tooling and/or fungus is preventing that from happening.
What is this trying to tell us? Unwashed hair needs love too?
Well whatever you hear the greenness whispers, don't do what it says.
It was born bad.
All-in-all: 1 *'s out of 10.
Model's effort alone.

*~Next!~*

So the Pink and White plaid dress is workable. The sea-witch hips are not(reference: "Little Mermaid" Disney classic film).
I actually like the metallic tights and the shoes are cute, but the baguette (your guess is as good as mine) hat and egg peltings are too much.
All the eggs tell us is that she's either sloppy, twisted or just generally not liked.
I vote for the second option after noticing the sardonic grin she sports.
Sick, sick little girl...
All-in-all: 3 *'s out of 10.
Just another nice dress ruined by breakfast.

*~Next!~*

Ok, *this* is the kind of ridiculousness I can handle and even appreciate. A nice simple piece with a little silliness and whimsical touch that leaves you smiling. The colors are perfect, the models make-up, hair and stance complementary, and the shape...well it just makes it.
All-in-all: 5 *'s (and a half) out of 10.
Fashion fun done right.

Anyway, that was just one of the designers at the Miami Fashion week, and as I said before I hope I get to cover them all before this week is through. Thanks for stopping by, hope you enjoyed yourself and feel free to leave a comment giving your own opinions on the fashion or on myself. *smile* Later!
Welcome to my page. So crisp and pure...*sigh*

I wonder why you're still reading?
Maybe the tile grabbed your fancy?
Maybe you saw my profile and it peaked your curiosity?
Or maybe this is just what you do. *smile*

Anyhoo, my plan for this blog is to post the designer fashion trends of today, yesterday and tomorrow and give my own personal view. I've been doing it for sometime as a joke with my friends but I thought "maybe someone else could get a kick out of it as well" and thus, it was born.

I hope to give a sample of the afore mentioned critiquing before the day is through, and if you like what you see, let me know. *wink*
